Let's take a look at the properties of other "typical," dog coats.

Overexposure
The underbelly of a dog is usually a sensitive spot that is least covered with hair or fur.
What is the purpose of a warm and/or weatherproof coat that only offers a thin strap to cover the belly? 		overexposure

I’ve seen many coats where the makers use Velcro at the neck as closure.

The problem with Velcro is that it adds substantial bulk to the neck area. This bulk can cause rubbing and matting if not fitted properly.

“Adjustable,” usually means you’ll be left with unwanted extra material that hangs over on the neck. Any hanging material can get caught on brambles while exploring, and can be uncomfortable.
Bulk in the wrong places
Even coats that do recognize the importance of belly cover, still are left with unwanted material, and bulk on the back of your dog.		 bulk

Lastly, most coat manufacturers believe our dogs are shaped like bricks.
